I have a Pavilion dv6000 with Windows Vista x64 and I would like to use with Windows 7 x64.

I have new and more memory and a SSD disk ready to install but I need a Bios Update, at present is with F.16 version.

Memory at present: 2×512 MB Dimm DDR-2 533 Mhz

The model is dv6241ea and HP has withdrawn support. I cannot even find the specs to know if it is a AMD or Intel machine. You can find drivers and BIOS on third party sites but they are a bit risky.

The HP parts list indicates that your notebook has an Intel processor and chipset.

Here is the link to the final BIOS update HP released for your model.

The above files are ‘straight from the horse’s mouth,’ as it were.

Even though HP has removed support for your notebook’s model series, you can still find most of the drivers you need directly from the HP FTP site, thus avoiding the risk of 3rd party website drivers not being safe.

Sorry. I forgot to say the processor, it’s an Intel Core T5200.

Many thanks to you Huffer and Paul Tikkanen for your help.

Paul, right now I have used sp48121.exe file (under Windows Vista x64 with original hardware: 120 Gb Ata disk and 2×512 Mb Ddr2), and. to say in one word. Excellent.

No problem during whole bios update process. Now the bios’s page reports 4Gb of Ram, and Windows 7 x64 (also Windows Vista x64) reports on Windows system page 4 Gb of Ram ( 2.99 Gb usable), no blue error page during Windows 7 booting, all it’s running fine!

I will install right now the new ssd disk and Windows 7 x64 again (clean install).

I’m very grateful.

And. I take this moment to wish you merry christmas to all you!
